Project Overview

Rolling piedmont hills, large hayfields, a small stream and mature woodlands which are part of the larger Stateline Woods - this property offers a richly textured landscape to all who visit. This project will create a nature preserve with public walking trails and bridle paths. Kennett Township Land Trust will manage the property in accordance with best management practices for trail stewardship, meadow, wetlands, and woodlands restoration, and agricultural practices.

Project Benefits

A vital link within the Stateline Woods Trail corridor, the trail network here provides an important community recreational asset. A new nature preserve will be established as well - the first of its kind and magnitude in the area. Conservation of this property will also preserve an extensive wetland and several important natural habitat areas, including Class I woodlands and three Natural Diversity Inventory areas. The permanent protection of this parcel will also enhance the conservation values of adjoining protected lands.
